Old products -now a bonus?

G’day and Welcome

I recently received a mail from John Thornhill. Nothing unusual in that -I am subscribed to the Planetsms blog. The topic created some discussion both on John’s blog and around here in the office. Basically, John wished to know how we felt about Big Ticket marketing products that we bought for Big Ticket dollars being now offered as free bonuses.

I personally find that I would feel insulted.

Yes, the Internet does move fast. Yes, parts of the “bonus courses” are now out of date.

If they are truely now that worthless, Why offer them at all? Do these marketing Gurus believe that we need more crap on our desktops?

The point for me is that I have paid money on the day for similar Big Ticket items (fortunately from other Big-name marketers) because I was told I would not be able to get the info again. I bought courses that at the time I KNEW I would not have the technical expertise to implement until a later date because

  1. I believed in the VALUE of the course material and that enough of that material would be dateless
  2. I believed I would be unable to have access to it at a later date
  3. I knew I would want to implement the course strategies later

Essentially, I believed the marketers concerned were Honest and supported we, their customers by protecting us as their existing clients. So far, most of the marketers I have bought from have lived up to my Trust in them.

I am at a loss as to why the “Bonus Tactic” marketers do not update the courses and resell them in the way that Jeff Walker did with his ProductLaunch course.

How does this “Bonus Tactic” effect YOUR customers perceptions?

How does this “Bonus Tactic” effect YOUR customer conversions for YOUR products?

YOU are NOT silly, neither are YOUR customers.

The answer is obviously that it shouldn’t effect you too badly at all. Huh?

I would recommend that YOU learn from this Bonus Tactic and be Very careful of emulating it in your chosen Niche. Do not lose your existing and hard-won customer base over what is essentially a quick cash-up Tactic.

Understand that the current “Bonus Tactics” being used are a Timely reminder that Our on-line credibility will ALWAYS be more important to our customers no matter how well-known we become.

Understand that at the moment, many of us have absorbed what several marketers have done lately to their own customers. We need YOUR reassurance that You Care about Us!
